Continuing Education Requirements for Community Association Managers

Community Association Managers are required to complete 15 hours of continuing education, which should include the following:

  • Legal Update – LU – A minimum of three hours of legal update classes
  • Insurance and Financial Management – IFM – Three hours on insurance and financial management topics related to community association management
  • Operations – OPP – Three hours on the operation of the association’s physical property
  • Human Resources – HR – Three hours on human resources topics related to community association management, such as disaster preparedness, employee relations, and communication skills for effectively dealing with residents and vendors 
  • Electives – EL – Three hours of additional instruction in any area described in Rule 61-20.508(3)(b),(c) or (d) of the Florida Administrative Code, or any course directly related to the management or administration of community associations

If a class is taken in a category (FM, OPP or HR) that has already been completed that class will be counted by the DBPR as an elective.

 

Continuing Education Requirements for Community Association Managers who manage Homeowners Associations (HOA)

Community Association Managers who offer management services to homeowners’ associations need to complete at least five hours of continuing education every two years that is specifically related to homeowners’ associations. Three of those hours must focus on recordkeeping.
