Approval Number: 9879234
Four Hours

This class addresses the issues that elders face when experiencing physical and/or mental decline. Some may find it increasingly difficult to continue using their own homes. Thanks to extensive research on accessible environments for those with disabilities, we can build new buildings that are far more accommodating for the elderly. Even in existing homes, modifications can be made gradually and as needed, just not as easily or efficiently as starting from a blank slate.

A Firm Foundation
Approval Number: 9879170
Two Hours

Designing foundations involves several important aspects. A thorough examination is conducted to understand how water can potentially harm the structure. Specific foundation options are carefully chosen, taking various factors into consideration. Framing components responsible for supporting the floor are determined. Strategies are put in place to effectively manage vapor drive. Insulation materials are selected to create a barrier against different climates because the subflooring acts as the primary barrier between the inside atmosphere and any space beneath it. Lastly, underlayment and finish flooring options are decided upon for the uppermost layer.

Considerations in Railing Design

Dealing with the Danger of Mold
Approval Number: 9879231
Three Hours

Dealing with the Danger of Mold provides a concise analysis of the design and construction techniques used in creating systems that can withstand water penetration. Gaining an understanding of these systems allows us to identify potential sources of intrusion and determine the most effective approach to repairing them and minimizing further harm. The primary remedial action is to seal any compromised envelope as a first step. Failure to do so will inevitably result in the development of mold, ultimately rendering our afflicted buildings unfit for habitation.
