Newly elected or appointed condominium and HOA directors generally must complete and submit the required education certificate within 90 days after election or appointment. Condominium directors may also complete the curriculum during the year before election or appointment.

Is the same certification used for condos and HOAs?

The condominium written certification and educational certificate are valid for 7 years and do not have to be resubmitted while the director serves without interruption during that period.

How long is an HOA certificate valid?

An HOA certificate is valid for up to 4 years, and the director must complete the education for newly elected or appointed directors at least every 4 years.

What happens if a director does not file the certificate on time?
